The PC Tablets, these tech toys, so appreciated nowadays, especially by Internet and multimedia geeks, have almost managed to equal smartphones. The single reason why the tablets are not yet registering huge selling amounts is the pretty high price. But, let’s not forget that 2011 will bring in not only iPad2, but also many other low-entry competitors.

Let’s talk more about the unforeseeable side of these gadgets. What facilities could the tablets have in the future? What exactly could amaze us? A simple imagination exercise provides the answers:

1. Pico-projector

This project is useful, easy to work with and implement. Unlike smartphones, where the relatively small dimensions could represent an issue, with tablets this will not happen. Of course, the slim appearance will have to suffer a little bit, but the advantage of this projector is obvious: you don’t have to carry the device using a zip bag.

2. Digital weight scale

Everybody is now boasting with the “Gorilla Glass“; so why not find an useful use for it, not just one that takes care of screen resistance from scratches and this. The fast-food generation, passionate with gadgets, could use this to measure their weight after each hyper caloric menu.  It could be a step forward to identify the effects of an unhealthy diet.

Adding the digital weight loss function isn’t a hard thing to do. You need to integrate 4 weigth sensors in the corners of the tablet and a simple software to assume the information from them. You can go even further and introduce technologies that could analyze the fat or water level in the body.

3. Mirror

The Demoiselles use to spend some time in front of the mirror. We know that behind the tablet there’s a small photo objective, and it could easily cover a surface of 25-50% from the entire body. Of course, there is need for another special “treatment”/protection to prevent the glass from breaking or scratching its surface.

4. NFC Technology (Near Field Communication)

NFC is a pretty old technology of communication using radio waves, but it is used at a lower scale. It has been used on several phone models for offering the possibility of making electronic payments. But nobody managed to implement this on a higher scale.

Rumor has it that Apple will deploy this technology then next year, on the following iPhone and will propel this technology to the mainstream.

5. Digital thermometer

I don’t have too much trust in weather forecasts on my phone/computer. I was tricked too many times and the shown data didn’t coincide with the real information. If you have a thermometer at hand, it is very simple and easy to decide what you will wear. Integrating such an instrument on a tablet would be a very good idea, but somehow, the developers are not excited with this idea.
