Launch your business idea with Share Your Office

share your office 300x178 Launch your business idea with Share Your OfficeIf you’re a tech-head, like many of our readers, you will at some point have considered setting up your own business. Working from home can be a drag, however – but hiring out an office is cost-prohibitive. Enter Share Your Office.
The site, which describes itself as a dating service for office space, is designed to allow start-ups and small companies find the space they need without having to tie themselves down – and without bankrupting themselves in the process.
At some point, we all have an idea which we think could change the world. Steve Wozniak thought he could build a computer, and with prodding from Steve Jobs founded Apple and made a fortune. Mark Zuckerberg thought that a site that would allow people to chat to each other and network – socially, one might say – was a good idea, and made his fortune. History is littered with people who had that one great idea – and usually started from their basement, garage, or bedroom.
There comes a time in every start-up’s life, however, that the bedroom, garage, or basement just isn’t enough. You need professional office space, but you’re still not turning over enough to justify the expense.
Share Your Office aims to solve that problem, by allowing larger companies that have spare capacity in their offices to lease it to smaller start-ups that need a space in which to work but that can’t afford an office building of their own. It’s a win-win scenario: the start-up gets a professional environment in which to work, and the established company gets a small but significant revenue stream from its previously underused space.
The site, founded by French company faberNovel, has been running in Europe for a while – but now has plans to bring its services to the US. It already has a large number of US users listed, and as the popularity grows the chance of finding a space near you increases.
Renting an office is no guarantee that your idea to launch the next Apple, Facebook, Amazon, or Sony will succeed, of course – but a professional environment can make all the difference. Why not check the site out and see if there are spaces near you?
Oh, and if you do get rich – remember your old friends at Geek With Laptop, won’t you?
